"We support vets..."

A belated post of musings from the day after the Gathering of Eagles I:

"We support vets", he called out, "but you have to wake up." If I hadn't been so bemused at the thought that this message would sway those standing around me, I'd have a picture-phone picture to share.

These words came from an earnest young man in either his 20s or 30s participating in the March 17th anti-everything rally/march in DC sponsored by A.N.S.W.E.R., a socialist/communist/anarchist organization. Whether this young man realized it or not he is a tool of A.N.S.W.E.R., and he was preaching to a crowd of veterans of all ages that, to a man/woman, fought in conflicts against the product of socialist, communist, and/or anarchist ideologies. Who do you think has a better perspective on who needs to “wake up”? No wonder a few of the vets among the Gathering of Eagles counterprotest were yelling 'traitor'...

After watching the "anti-war" marchers trudge by yesterday, the question I was left with was this: why doesn't anyone spend more time asking why A.N.S.W.E.R. is sponsoring these “anti-war” marches? I put “anti-war” in quotes because you listen to the rhetoric and look at the signs, these marches never appear to be as simple as the are portrayed in the majority of media coverage.

If Americans are really consolidating around an anti-war position, why doesn't some other organization step forward as sponsor?

Hm?
